NAVEX - THE LASER SYSTEM
Component of Nidek NAVEX EC 5000 CX II
Excimer Laser System :
-
Optical Path
Different System (OPD Scan Wavefront Plus)
is the instrument used to measure optical
aberrations of different kinds of eyes and the causes of impaired
vision.
-
Wavefront
analyzer
is the highest order optical aberration measurement device.
-
Optical Path
Difference scanning system is the system that checks 1,440 different spots of your cornea,
then analyzes and calculates the results to ensure accuracy.
-
Auto
Refractometer
is used to measure the refraction of the eyes.
-
Corneal
topography
is used to check the curvature of your cornea. It is very fine
instrument that check 6,400 spots of corneal curvature that
could not be detected by any other machine.
-
Measures both Total and Higher Order
Aberration.
-
Auto keratometry
-
Pupil diameter
-
Fixation Offset
-
Final Fit Software
is a program that calculates and designs the
pattern of the laser for NAVEX excimer by generating the data from
OPD Scan Wavefront Plus.
-
NAVEX using a multi-dimensional beam
delivery tracking system and pre-calculated data from Final Fit
Software, follows the movement of the eye to ensure a precise and
accurate cut. Although the eye of the patient does not remain
still, the machine tracks for the proper position with help of
Torsion Error Detector (TED) and performs accordingly. It
gives aspheric custom ablation.
Microkeratome
The Microkeratome is an essential tool
in LASIK surgery. It plays a major role in the process. The success
of LASIK depends on the microkeratome. The innovative technology
nowadays makes the microkeratome very safe to use and creates a
smooth surface cut. The microkeratome is very delicate and needs a
keen hand and eye to operate.
we uses the Moria M2 microkeratome, the latest
technology from
France, and also MORIA M2, the only
and latest technology of the microkeratome that is best suited for
the Asian eye.
MORIAM2 runs on two separate
motors. The first motor controls the frequency of oscillation of the
blade running at the high frequency of 18,000times/minute and the
second motor controls the stability of moving forward, producing a
smoother surface.
NAVEX with MORIAM2 helps save
up to 40% of the corneal tissue by using small spot segmental
ablation and slit scanning. The process is smoother and less time
consuming than any other machine used in the LASIK market right now.
Automatic eye
tracking
To achieve the most accurate
positioning of the laser during treatment, the latest generation of
lasers incorporates an automatic eye tracking facility. Utilizing
this feature, the laser observes minute movements of the patient’s
pupil and instantly responds to them by moving the laser beam
accordingly. This enables the most accurate positioning of the
treatment area, directly over the center of the pupil, and ensures
that the laser ceases whenever the patient’s eye moves out of
position.
The CCD Camera follows the eye
position via the pupil without having to diliate the pupil. The
other special aspect is that there are absolutely no side effects of
the instrument into or out of operating field. The eye tracker uses
two infrared rays passively and actively without pretracking or post
imaging. The eye tracker can choose the center of the tracking. And
it is FDA approved.
How is NAVEX different?
LASIK is for the correction
of lower order aberration, but NAVEX works to eliminate higher order
aberration problems resulting in complete vision correction.
NAVEX can lead to
-
superior vision.
-
clear vision without glasses or contact lens.
-
a decreased risk of glare or halo effect.
-
increase a chance of correction high range refractive
errors.
